NH SPCA (Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals) brings animals and people together by providing adoption, education, and sheltering in a welcoming environment. Club members will help take care of the sheltered animals as official SPCA volunteers. An initial training session will teach students more about the SPCA and its missions. It is required to be at least 16 years old to join this club.

Adopt a Beach Program and NH Coastal Clean UpNH Coastal Cleanup is part of an international beach cleanup each fall. This year we will participate on Sept. 21 from 1:00-3:00. We also adopted a beach to clean up in collaboration with the UU church and we do this the first Sunday each month. We work with the Blue Ocean Society.

Connections is a friendship mentoring group for PEA students and local elementary school children. We are similar to Big Sibs in that we will meet  with our "connection" monthly for designated programs.

Hats for People who are Homeless knits hats and scarves for people who are homeless. Members are encouraged to knit on their own time, as well as attending the meetings which are held twice a week. No prior knitting experience necessary.This year we will participate in the Peace Day Exeter on Sept 21 by knitting squares for Afgans for Afganis.

Music For Life is an organization for PEA musicians willing to reach out for the wider community by visiting local nursing homes and retirement homes every other week to play music for elderly people. . Students get the chance to utilize their musical talent to practice the spirit of non-sibi.

Inspiration Farm, Epping NH Therapeutic Riding: help with horses and children in the Theraputic Riding Program.

Dance and Music Performance connects the various singing and dance groups with the community partners, including Riverwoods, a local retirement village, and local schools.

Food Pantry works with a local pantry in Exeter (St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry) to provide for members of the community in need. Student volunteers walk to the pantry once a week where they work with Exeter citizen volunteers bagging groceries and toiletries for families and restocking the pantry shelves.

Adult Ed works with the state-run adult education program that operates out of the Tuck Learning Campus. Student-volunteers meet at least once a week to tutor or assist instructors in teaching adults computer science, math and ESL.

*Heartbreakers is a girls' group affiliated with Best Buddies which meets two Tuesday evenings a month from 6:30 to 8:00 to do art projects, take dance classes, sing karaoke, cook, and do other fun activities.

Children's ChoirPEA students lead a small children's choir which then performs in the community at nursing homes and special events.Children ages 5-12. With PEA students as singing mentors.                                                       Advisor: Laurie LoosigianThe choir will practice Wed. 6:30-7:15 pm Sept. 24-Nov. 12 and then performs three times.

Church Play Group: PEA students go on Wed. afternoons to a local church to play with young children while the moms and dads have social bonding time. The group meets at various locations within walking distance of the school.

Exeter AIDS Response is a student-run group on campus that strives to primarily raise awareness among the student body of the gravity of the AIDS epidemic in the world and even in our community. Along with awareness campaigns, this group will sponsor activities, such as vigils, service projects, and inviting speakers to get students, as well as faculty, more involved in the global fight against AIDS.

Games with Seniors walk to Exeter Housing Authority on Wed. afternoons to play board games and cards with local senior citizens and to visit, talk, and play games, including bingo, cards, and balloon volleyball. Personal, one-to-one relationships are often forged with the residents.

Great Bay Kid's Company is a preschool and elementary school. Students will walk to the school to do a variety of projects with the children similar to the Exeter Day School. We work with them during day frees and we also volunteers during their after school programs.

Hospice-students previously trained in 2007 and 2008 will continue their volunteer work with their patients in Sunbridge and the Brentwood Nursing Home. We will not offer this training this year.

Middle School Mentors is a club that focuses on helping middle school students with homework in a variety of subjects. PEA students work with the Cooperative Middle School students in one-on-one mentoring and begin to develop strong friendships. As time allows, students who are done with their homework are also allowed to play games like, wiffle ball and Pictionary. This is a year long program, but since it meets Wed. afternoon, members with sports can take terms off.

Nursing Home Club-The Fresh Air Club students visit local nursing homes to bring the spirit of fresh air to the residents.

Seacoast Academy, is a small private school in Hampton Falls. We visit to help in classes, work with students on projects and art classes. This is an independent Middle School, grades 6-8 with an Episcopalian connection.

Tents of Hope Project for Darfur. This is a project whereby we will paint the panels of a tent and provide awareness to students about the genocide in Darfur. We will work with the Exeter Peace Day and various local organizations to paint the tent.  In Nov. 2008, the tent will go to Washington DC to encourage our administration to help the refugees and to end the genocide. As part of this project, we started a STAND Chapter.

Administrative assist for the Religious Education Program during the week. Times are to be arranged with the community partner.  Jobs include: sending out letters for safe congregation, addressing envelopes, maintaining the library, helping to make spirit play baskets and organize the activity shelves.

Exeter Scouting Outreach is a group of Academy students who were in the Scouts before coming to Exeter and wish to continue work with and give back to Scouting. We do so by attending the meetings of Troop 332 and acting as Junior Assistant Scoutmasters. This means that we aid in running the meetings, instruct on Scout skills, and generally assist the Scoutmaster and Senior Patrol Leader whenever possible.

Best Buddies is an international organization that pairs people with intellectual disabilities with high school and college students to foster 1-on-1 friendships. Buddy pairs attend various events together, such as holiday parties and bowling nights. Best Buddies is a year-long commitment.
